Payment, Refund, Withdrawal and Dispute Policy
- Effective date
- 18 September 2026
- Applies to
- Clients and freelancers
This policy describes how client payments are collected, how freelancers are credited and paid, and how refunds and disputes are handled on Onrari.
1. Scope and roles
This policy applies to every milestone funding, internal balance credit, disbursement, refund and dispute on the platform. The client payment provider depends on the currency: Dodo Payments for payments in euros, FedaPay for payments in CFA francs (XOF). ORIGIN SYSTEMS keeps the internal ledger and executes disbursements through available payout providers, whose identity may vary.
2. Client checkout
The client funds each milestone through the checkout operated by the payment provider for their currency (Dodo Payments for EUR, FedaPay for XOF). Accepted payment methods, third-party fees and applicable exchange rates are shown before payment where they apply.
3. Settlement to ORIGIN SYSTEMS and internal ledger
The payment provider settles client funds to ORIGIN SYSTEMS, which records and reserves the amount in the internal ledger for the relevant milestone. Project funds may be pooled in ORIGIN SYSTEMS accounts while being tracked separately in the ledger.
Payment to ORIGIN SYSTEMS through checkout satisfies the client's payment obligation for the funded milestone, subject to actual settlement, fraud checks, and any reversals.
4. No payment account and no escrow
The freelancer's internal balance is accounting information and a contractual receivable against ORIGIN SYSTEMS. It is not a bank account or payment account and earns no interest. Onrari does not act as a regulated escrow agent, fiduciary, or financial institution, and does not issue electronic money.
5. Milestone states
- Unfunded: the milestone exists in the project terms but has not been paid.
- Funded: the client has paid and the amount is reserved in the internal ledger pending delivery.
- Released: the client approved the deliverable and the freelancer was credited.
- Disputed: a challenge is open and the amount may be temporarily held during review.
6. Approval and freelancer credit
When the client approves a deliverable, the freelancer's available internal balance is credited with the milestone price minus Onrari's 5% freelancer commission.
7. Commission example
For a €1,000 milestone: the client pays €1,050 (including €50 service fee), the freelancer is credited €950 (after the €50 commission), and €100 in total goes to Onrari, excluding any disclosed third-party fees, taxes, or foreign-exchange items shown before payment or withdrawal.
8. Withdrawal request and checks
The freelancer requests withdrawal of the available balance. ORIGIN SYSTEMS performs identity, compliance, and fraud checks, then pays separately through available payout providers. Processing times depend on the checks and the provider.
9. Providers, foreign exchange, and fees
Payout providers may apply their own fees and exchange rates. These are shown to the freelancer before withdrawal where they apply.
10. Failed or returned payouts
If a withdrawal fails or is returned, the amount returns to the freelancer's internal balance after confirmation. The freelancer must keep accurate payout details; fees caused by incorrect details may be passed on where the law and provider rules allow.
11. Cancellations and refunds
- Before a milestone is funded, the client may cancel without project payment.
- After funding but before work is accepted, Onrari determines the refund based on completed and usable work and documented costs, after hearing both sides.
- An approved milestone is generally non-refundable, except for fraud, duplicate payment, mandatory law, or a payment processor decision.
- Payment provider fees already incurred may be non-refundable where the law and provider rules allow.
- No clause waives statutory consumer withdrawal rights; mandatory applicable law prevails.
12. Reversals and chargebacks
A chargeback or reversal initiated with the payment provider does not replace the platform dispute process. The freelancer bears reversals and refunds caused by their fraud, breach, or nonconforming work. After notice and on the basis of documented evidence, Onrari may offset these amounts against their future available balances.
13. Disputes, evidence, and temporary holds
The parties cooperate and provide useful evidence: specification, proposal, messages, deliverables, and proof of payment. During review, Onrari may temporarily hold the relevant amount in the internal ledger. Onrari then allocates the funds according to the contractual documents and the evidence.
14. Fraud, sanctions, and KYC
Onrari may suspend payments, credits, or withdrawals for identity verification, sanctions compliance, or fraud prevention, and refuse an operation where the law requires it.
15. Records and contact
Onrari keeps internal ledger entries, acceptances, and proof of payment as required by applicable law. Electronic consents and acceptances on the platform have evidentiary value to the extent permitted by law.
